The Consuelo J. Paz Lecture is held every two years by the Department of Linguistics, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. It was launched as a tribute to the unparalleled contributions of Dr. Consuelo J. Paz to Philippine linguistics and culture studies.
This year, the Paz Lecture will be conducted as part of the UP Diliman Arts and Culture Month with the theme, “Engkwentro: Barikada Singkwenta at Ika-500 Taon na Pagtatagpo ng Pilipinas at Espanya”. The featured lecture for this program is derived from a three-volume dissertation on the studies of Philippine languages by Spanish missionaries, and their implications for the formation and development of Philippine linguistics and the historicization of Filipino as National Language.
The second Paz Lecture will be delivered by Dr. Arwin Vibar of the University of Asia and the Pacific. It will be broadcast via StreamYard and livestreamed in the Department of Linguistics’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. For more information, send us an email at <linguistics.upd@up.edu.ph>.
