Extension Programs

To be able to effectively render extension services, the Department has decided to adopt its own Extension Agenda that would serve as the guiding principles in the formulation of its regular Extension Program. This agenda includes the following statements:

  • The Department of Linguistics, in accordance with its primary goal to become the center of researching and archiving the languages of the Philippines, shall conduct extension activities aimed at documenting, disseminating research, and/or educating the public about Philippine languages.
  • Pursuant to its role of teaching the national languages of Asia, the Department shall also undertake extension activities on the teaching and promotion of Asian languages.
  • In line with its goal of integrating linguistic knowledge into language pedagogy, the Department shall also endeavor to conduct extension activities fulfilling such objective.

The extension program in linguistics is composed of activities that seek to share and validate linguistic knowledge to both individuals and organizations seeking to utilize such knowledge in their line of duty, function, or interest.

Meanwhile, the extension program in Asian languages is conducted in line with the Department’s mandate to teach and research on the languages of Asia for the benefit of the wider public.
