한-필 병렬 말뭉치 분석에 기반한 부정 표현 대조 연구
(A Parallel Corpus-Based Comparative Analysis of Korean and Tagalog Negation)
Co-presenter: Jiyeon Jeon, Kangwon National University
This study describes and compares the clausal negation strategies in Korean and Tagalog using parallel corpus data. Building upon previous analyses on negation in both languages, we will first discuss the similarities and differences of the two languages in the way that they mark or express negative meaning in various types of clauses. Second, we will compare the special grammatical properties that are carried by the canonical negators present in these two languages, if any, and discuss restrictions or conditions that could be attributed to any of these properties. Finally, we will attempt to extend and/or modify the existing typology of negative expressions in the two languages by sharing our preliminary findings about non-canonical negation or alternative ways of marking negation that could be inferred from the parallel corpus data.
