After four years, the Asian Culture Fest (ACF) finally returned last 09 December, showcasing students’ appreciation and mastery of their target languages while exposing them to other cultures, as well. The event, which is part of the Department’s centennial founding anniversary celebration, was done in partnership with The Japan Foundation Manila (JFM) and the Office of International Linkages Diliman (OIL-D), and with support from Fujitsu and Amazon.
This was the first time since 2018 that ACF was held at the AS Parking Lot, and with 35 interactive booths hosted by Asian language classes, partner organizations, cultural offices, student organizations and embassies, students and visitors alike got the opportunity to experience the different facets of various cultures. Attendees participated in karaoke, tanabata, calligraphy, Chinese games, K-culture quiz bee, and other activities. They also chose from different delicacies like onigiri, pad thai, mango sticky rice and fried chicken.
Aside from the booths, several raffle prizes were also given, some of which were golden tickets for the Department’s extramural language classes.
Students also performed, showcasing the vibrancy of Asian cultures through dances like Loy Krathong, Hanagasa Ondo and a mixture of Asian dance crazes. The Korean Cultural Center Nara, Indonesian Embassy and UP Arnis Kali performed as well.
The day ended with an awarding ceremony, with classes from the different Asian languages clusters getting several awards for their booths and posters.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and until the next ACF!
