Instr. Brian Salvador Baran and Teaching Assoc. Patricia Anne Asuncion together with their co-presenter Patrick Aldrin Ocampo, BA Anthropology alum at UPD Department of Anthropology present a themed panel “Folkore Between Linguistics and Anthropology” at the 47th Annual Ugnayang Pang-aghamtao, Inc. (UGAT) conference held at the Holy Name University (HNU) and National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), Tagbilaran, Bohol from 12 – 15 November 2025. This year’s UGAT conference has the theme “Engaging Anthropology: Anthropology in Action.” BA Lingg Alum Soleil Vinoya is also at the conference as a part of the roundtable discussion entitled “Tulak Bala: Dikay Maliangin (Marihangin is ours).”
Teaching Assoc. Asuncion is presenting her paper entitled “Transedence through Language: Revisiting Narratives of the Skyworlds in the Philippines” while Instr. Baran is presenting his paper entitled “Navigating a Bounded World: Exploring an Island Folklore in the Folklore of Bantayan Island and Other Similar Smaller Philippine Islands.” Along with co-presenter Patrick Ocampo’s paper entitled “Mapping out Taboo and Sacred Spaces in Philippine Languages: The Case of PAN *paliSi Descendants and Other Related Terms,” these papers are the outputs from the 2025 LinggPil 271 [Linggwistiks at Foklor (Linguistics and Folklore)] graduate class.
