On 13 December 2025, Instr. Brian Salvador Caratao Baran presented his study entitled “The Neutral Marker in Philippine Languages” at the 10th Asian Junior Linguists (AJL) conference held both at the International Christian University (ICU), Tokyo, Japan and on Zoom. The AJL conference is organized by the ICU Linguistics Lab and Institute for Education and Research Support (IERS). The AJL conference is convened yearly and this year’s conference was convened from 12 – 14 December 2025.

The AJL conference is organized as a venue for junior linguists to share their research and network with fellow linguists. Atendees and presenters to the conference are mainly undergraduate students but master’s and PhD students are also welcomed on a case-to-case basis. The 10th Asian Junior Linguists features plenary talks on percpetual biases in second language acquisition, nominalizations in Bantu languages, and degree-questions-under-discussion (QUD) perspective on informativeness of sentences and comparatives.
