MA Ling student Mariquit D. Camba organized Filipino Sign Language sessions as a fundraising drive for the local public school at Taytay, Rizal on August 17 and September 22, 2022. Deaf teacher Emily May R. Manalansan, with the help of signer Joshua A. Ogame, facilitated the sessions. The first session discussed survival signs and Deaf advocacy, while the second session focused on FSL describers. Several foreign language learners, linguistics students, professionals from different fields, and hearing children attended these sessions.
Future sessions are set to center on more specialized topics in FSL grammar, as well as introductory FSL linguistics. To all interested parties, you may send an email to mooshandmoorie@gmail.com. Attendance to previous sessions is not required.
