The Department’s Korean language senior lecturer Mark Rae De Chavez is currently in Korea to participate in the Research Workshop for Overseas KFL Educators (국외 한국어 연구자 배움이음터) organized by the National Institute of Korean Language (국립국어원).
The workshop entails online learning sessions (K-teacher learning contents) as well as one-on-one research mentoring sessions held in Korea. The workshop aims to strengthen research capacity of the overseas KFL educators, disseminate customized KFL training for overseas educators, promote the NIKL’s KFL policies and materials, and to forge collaborations to activate relations between NIKL and overseas KFL institutions. This year, a total of fifteen participants were invited from Africa, Asia, and Europe, and each of them will be guided by Yonsei University professors to carry out their research during the workshop.
De Chavez will stay in Korea from 01 to 20 August 2024 at Yonsei University‘s International Campus in Songdo, Incheon and also their main campus in Sinchon, Seoul. He will focus on producing a research outcome focusing on the department’s Plan C Korean curriculum.
