Lec. Junilo Espiritu and Asst. Prof. Ria Rafael are newly elected officers of Association of Filipino Nihongo Teachers (Afinite) Lec. Espiritu was elected president while Asst. Prof. Rafael was elected secretary. They took their oaths last 11 January 2026 and are set to serve two-year terms. The first project of the new leadership is the revival of the Nihongo Quiz Bee which has been held until 2019. They will be renaming the event to the 1st Philippine Nihongo Quiz Bee for Junior High Schools which will now be held on 15 March 2026 at the Nihongo Center Foundation in Manila.
Afinite is an organization of teachers of the Japanese language in the Philippines. They are dedicated to improving the teaching skills of Japanese teachers. Afinite regularly holds the Benkyoukai or Study Group Sessions where Japanese teachers can discuss about any topic and workshop best practices in pedagogy and classroom management. Their members also serve as judges to competitions and events related to the Japanese language.
