Asst. Prof. Ria Rafael and Instr. JM De Pano are currently in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to participate in a teacher training program as well as a conference on Japanese language teaching organized by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The conference, 12th International Conference on Computer Assisted Systems for Teaching & Learning Japanese (CASTEL/J), provides a “collaborative platform for Japanese language educators to explore the potential of educational technology and share practical, field-based insights.” The teacher training meanwhile features a lecture-workshop from Prof. Yasu-Hiko Tohsaku from the University of California San Diego.
Rafael’s paper is titled, “マレーシアとフィリピンにおける日本語教師研修・教師育成政策の比較 [A Preliminary Investigation of Japanese Language Teacher Development in Malaysia and the Philippines],” while De Pano’s is “フィリピンの大学におけるA1レベル授業のための、Presentation-Comprehension-Practice-Productionモデルへのテクノロジーの統合 [The Possible Application of Technology into the PCPP Model in A1-Level Classes in a Philippine University].”
