The Department is proud to announce the promotion of Vincent Christopher A. Santiago to assistant professor status. 

Santiago obtained his MA degree in Linguistics under the Department with his thesis titled “A Grammatical Sketch of Porohanon,” supervised by Assoc. Prof. Aldrin Lee. Santiago’s publications include “Isang Multi-criterial na Pag-iiba ng Pangngalan at Pandiwa sa Romblomanon/Ini” published in the Philippine Social Sciences Review and “Itaas ang Kamay at Iwagayway” published in the Katipunan Journal of Research in Filipino Language, Literature, Arts and Culture of the Ateneo de Manila University. He also recently presented on the language and place in Poro Island, Cebu at the 2024 Critical Island Studies (CIS) Conference

He currently serves as one of the Department’s undergraduate program coordinators, and is part of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP)‘s Komite sa Wika. Santiago is also the assistant editor of one of the upcoming issues of Banwaan, the CSSP Folklore Studies Program‘s journal.
