BA Ling major Symon Dela Cruz is one of the five Filipino delegates at this year’s Youth Camp for ASEAN and Friends’ Engagement (YCAFE) in Seoul, South Korea. YCAFE, which runs from November 27 to December 2, 2023, is organized by the Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Asian Exchange Association. The main objectives of the programs are (1) promote closer ASEAN-Korea partnership through increased understanding and awareness among the youth in the region, (2) raise awareness on the common challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region and identify the role of youth in promoting peace and prosperity, and (3) build networks and facilitate exchange and communication among the youths of ASEAN, Korea and the United States.
Symon will be working together with 60 Korean youths, the other 34 youths from the ASEAN region, as well as 10 American youths in drafting a manifesto about the youth’s role in developing and maintaining a free, peaceful, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
