Associate Professor Jesus Federico Hernandez is participating in the 16th Congress of the International Society of Ethnology and Folklore, hosted by the Masaryk University Department of European Ethnology at Brno, Czech Republic. Prof. Hernandez, who is also the current director of the UP College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Folklore Studies Program, is one of the convenors of a panel titled “Rituals of Faith and Religion during Uncertain Times.” Below is a short description of the panel, which includes ten papers by various scholars from different institutions.

Rituals of Faith and Religion during Uncertain Times

Faith & religion help people and communities cope with the unexpected. While core elements remain, ritual forms are adapted to times and threats. Through narratives of historical and recent periods of uncertainty, rituals are seen as an important channel for coping with uncertainty.
