Assoc. Prof. Tuting Hernandez will give his talk, “Worlds in words: Etymologies, ethnolinguistics and the Philippine etyma,” at the 2026 installment of the Maridette Molina Lectures in Linguistics organized by the Center for Language Studies of the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT). The event will be held on 13 May 2026.
The lecture series is held in memory of Dr. Maridette Molina, a BA and MA alumna of MSU-IIT. She also graduated from the PhD program of the Department, where she wrote a reference grammar of Butuanon.
Prof. Aldrin Lee gave his talk, “A Grammar Sketch Outline Tailored for Philippine Languages: What Questions to Ask” during the 2024 installment, while last year’s event featured Assoc. Prof. Jem Javier‘s presentation, “Ganu’n Kasi ‘Yun Dito: Some Useful Points to Ponder when Conducting Ethnolinguistic Research in the Philippine Context.”
