Several members of the Department will be participating in the joint conference of the Linguistic Society of the Philippines International Conference (LSPIC 2022) and English in Southeast Asia International Conference (21ESEA), which will be held virtually this 10-12 March 2022.
Current LSPIC President, Associate Professor Aldrin P. Lee will be one of the speakers at a themed panel presentation titled, “Dynamics of Words in Philippine Languages”, with Dr. Shirley Dita of De La Salle University and Dr. Naonori Nagaya of the University of Tokyo.
Assistant Professor and PhD Candidate Divine Angeli P. Endriga will deliver her paper titled, “Historiography of Linguistic and Language Studies in Cebuano and Hiligaynon from the Spanish Period to the Present”.
Students of the MA in Linguistics program will also be presenting. Lance Joshua S. Castro will read his paper titled “Ma*linaw ba? The Concept of Clarity in Philippine Languages” while Jay Chester D. Usero will be presenting two papers, “A Metalexicographic Investigation into the Microstructure of Selected Ilocano Dictionaries of Various Types” and “Decision Making Based on Conditionals”. Usero is also joining PhD Linguistics students Honeylet V. Dumoran and Ryn Jean Fe Gonzales in a themed panel presentation titled, “Some Notes on Philippine Cross Linguistic Syntactic Analysis” with Associate Professor Jesus Federico Hernandez as the convener of the panel.
MA Ling alumnus Louward Allen Zubiri will also be presenting his paper, “Revisiting the Inagta languages of Southern Quezon” while MA Linguistics alumna Ava Villareal will read her paper titled, “Nominalization in Surigaonon: Beyond Forming Noun Phrases”.
