Dustin Matthew Estrellado, who served as the Department’s undergrad student assistant and then as our resident archivist, will be moving on to new pastures. He was an integral part of the Ernesto Constantino Collection Archiving and Digitization Project, which is currently headed by Assistant Professor Elsie Marie Or. Together with other staff members of the Department, Dustin helped catalogue and digitize over 7000 items that are included in the collection. Among these are transcribed word and sentence lists from over 140 language varieties in the Philippines, which are currently being digitized for potential secondary use.

The archiving and digitization of the legacy language materials will continue on and Dustin’s contribution to the project will serve as an important foundation for the Department’s database of language materials.

Dustin also assisted in various research projects of different members of the Department and co-authored a study with Asst. Prof. Or titled “The State of Language Archiving in the Philippines: Lessons from the Ernesto Constantino Legacy Materials.”

We wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors!
