Abstract:

본 연구는 필리핀 현지에서 활동하는 필리핀인 한국어 교사를 대상으로 교육 현실과 요구를 분석하여 한국어교육의 발전 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 필리핀은 학교·대학·기관을 중심으로 한국어교육을 확장하고 있으나 제도적 기반과 교사 연구는 부족한 상황이다. 이에 필리핀 각지에서 활동 중인 한국어 교사 21명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하고, 이 중 유효 응답 19건을 분석하였다. 온라인 설문에 응답한 교사들은 대학, 세종학당, 직업훈련기관, 종교기관, 사설 어학원 등에 고용되어 있었다. 한국어 숙달도가 높지 않은 교사가 많았고 전공·연수 경험이 부족하며, 자격 인증 체계와 전문성 공유 기회도 부족하였다. 또한 대부분 한국 개발 교재에 의존하여 지역 특성을 반영한 교재 개발의 필요성이 제기되었다. 이는 현지 필리핀인 한국어 교원을 대상으로 하는 교사 역량 강화 프로그램, 현지 자격 인증, 맞춤형 교재 개발, 교사 네트워크 구축이 요구됨을 시사한다. 본 연구는 필리핀 한국어교육 내실화를 위한 실천적 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 기대한다.

This study aims to identify developmental directions for Korean language education in the Philippines by analyzing the educational realities and needs of Filipino Korean language teachers working locally. Although Korean language education has been expanding in schools, universities, and various institutions, the system lacks institutional foundations and research on teachers. To address this, an online survey was conducted with 21 teachers across the Philippines, and 19 valid responses were analyzed. The respondents were employed in universities, King Sejong Institutes, vocational training centers, religious institutions, and private language schools. Many teachers had limited Korean proficiency, insufficient academic background or training experience, and lacked access to certification systems and opportunities for professional exchange. In addition, most relied heavily on Korean-developed textbooks, highlighting the need for materials tailored to local learners’ linguistic and cultural contexts. The findings suggest the necessity of teacher training and capacity-building programs, the establishment of a local certification system, the development of localized teaching materials, and the formation of teacher networks. This study is expected to provide practical groundwork for strengthening Korean language education in the Philippines.
