Senior Lecturer Maria Concepcion Loren R. Chua is currently facilitating beginner- and intermediate-level Filipino classes at the 2024 edition of Jeonbuk National University’s Southeast Asian Language Summer Camp, co-organized with the Busan University of Foreign Studies.
Chua previously taught beginner-level Filipino classes during the 2022 and 2023 editions of the program, and also recently published a commentary of her experience teaching Filipino as a foreign language. This year is the first time that an intermediate-level Filipino course has been offered since the UP Korea Research Center partnered with the two universities.
The two-week program runs from 01 to 12 July 2024, where a total of seven languages (Bahasa Indonesia/Malaysia, Burmese, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino, Arabic, and Italia) deemed by the Korean government as “critical foreign languages” are being taught onsite and/or online.
Congratulations, Ma’am Yen and UP KRC!
